Cleaning Procedures

Vacuuming

Removing dry soil is one of the most important steps in carpet cleaning.

Pile lifter vacuum

Recommended by leading carpet manufacturers.
The Building Service Contractors Association International Carpet Guide says:

"The pile brush type vacuum will remove deeply embedded soil,
and open up the nap more than a regular, lightweight vacuum."

Usually, a pile brush machine will be used:

-weekly on traffic lanes.
-monthly on all of the carpeted areas.
-just before any cleaning process.

Pre-conditioning

Applying the proper preconditioning agent is a very important step.

Alkaline detergents: solvents and emulsifiers.
Neutral or slightly acid detergents: hydrogen
peroxide and/or natural solvents such as d-Limonene.
Enzyme: most typical are blends that attack oily and protein soils.
Specialized pre-conditioners: such as for olefin, wool and others.

Hot water extraction

Though commonly called "Steam Cleaning",
no actual steam is involved in the cleaning process
When the cleaning solution comes in contact with the
carpet/rug, it is anywhere between 120-250 degrees
Fahrenheit. For instance, in a modern truck-mounted
carpet cleaning machine, water can be heated to 300+
degrees (F), but after passing through high pressure
steel braided hose and several manifolds, the water
loses much of its heat. The water pressure will be
between 100 to 1,000 psi.

Spot removal

If the pre-conditioner and the water extraction
did not work to remove the spots or spills, we
will use hand-on method to remove them. And
then we will extract the residues with the
extractor machine.

Drying the carpet

Most nylon carpet will dry in a few hours. But to
help avoid any damage, we use air movers and
groomers
to accelerate the drying process.
Common damage:
-Fibre oxidation.
-Change of color.
-De lamination of carpet backing.
-Odors.
-Mould.
-And others problems.
